iPad Magic Keyboard stops working

I have the same issue referenced in this post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252787676?answerId=255250505022#255250505022. There appears to be some issue with iPadOS where when I switch to a new app, the software stops recognizing the keyboard input. However, the trackpad input continues to work.

This issue seems to happen most when I switch to the SlideOver view on iPadOS.

My ‘fix’ is to lock the iPad and then unlock, at which point the software recognizes the keyboard input again in the app I am using.

I’m on an iPad Air 4 Wifi and Magic Keyboard case. The iPad’s software is iPadOS 15.1.
