How to check for RATs?
Hi, I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015), and I'm concerned about potentially having a RAT. My computer has been slower in the past year and a half, and it is likely because it's getting old. However, I have been on sites with many pop-up ads, and I may have accidentally clicked on some. I also remember my MacBook asking for my password to make changes, and at one point, I remember putting it in after it was very persistent. That would have been within a year. I'm afraid I may have been documented.
Here are some of my daemons outside of the verified, pre-existing bunch after using the dscl . -list /Users command in terminal:
_analyticsd
_appinstalld
_appstore
_captiveagent
_ces
_cmiodalassistants
_coremediaiod
_coreml
_ctkd
_datadetectors
_demod
_diskimagesiod
_findmydevice
_fpsd
_fud
_gamecontrollerd
_hidd
_installcoordinationd
_knowledgegraphd
_logd
_mbsetupuser
_mobileasset
_nearbyd
_oahd
_ondemand
_reportmemoryexception
_rmd
_timed
_trustd
_update_sharing
_xserverdocs
I have also checked for users with the "who" command, yet my user and "ttys000" only exist, which I believe is the terminal.app user. When commanding "user," I only receive my user.
If there is anything else I can do, including downloading malware software, even though I heard they're not the most helpful, I am willing to do that.
I don't know a lot of computer terminology, but if I am required to code/manipulate the terminal/computer in any way, I can accomplish it.
I am overly paranoid about this situation, and I'd appreciate any advice.
