Lost Apple watch

My Apple Watch has been lost for a couple of months. I set the watch to lost mode back in July of this year(2021). Recently my phone is indicating that the last location of the Apple Watch is near my home which was updated 12 hours ago (Nov 23 2021). At the time the Apple Watch was lost the battery was dead. Is it possible that someone has found my Apple Watch and re-charged it? Or is the updated last location a result of the new IOS update ?? Also when I try playing a sound it appears that my phone is able to connect to my watch. Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

I can confirm you guys (if no one had done it yet) that its indeed a glitch from “Find My” portraying your phone location instead of the actual watch location. Lost my apple watch and i know it was dead but “Find My” said it was at a restaurant i had just eaten at and i was so certain i never wore my watch there. Eventually went back to the restaurant and checked with them, said they didnt see anything. Stripped my whole room apart and it was just behind the mattress. So if anyone from apple can fix this issue it would be great.

Update here…. I found my watch! It was in a jacket pocket. My phone was locating it in the house, then at a restaurant when we went to dinner, then at my office. All places my jacket was in my car with my watch in the pocket. My watch was dead the entire time so maybe the locate feature isn’t a glitch after all. It’s been missing for months! I am so happy!

After all these replies, I think I partially see the problem. The so called “detections of your Apple Watch, are only given to us from where was our phone located when it was able to ping our “lost/stolen” Watch. For a few days two or three times a day I saw updated locations, always from wherever my iPhone had been. Then one day (who ever stole it) they decided to reformat/erase the Apple Watch and I have never gotten a single ping from it anymore

Hi there OA_122,

We understand you have questions about information you're seeing in Find My.

Your Apple Watch showing offline, indicates that it's been longer than a day since it was last connected to a Wi-Fi or data network. You can find additional information, here: If Find My is offline or not working

If you have additional quesitons, to get the most accurate information and assistance with this, we reccomend that you contact Apple Support.

Cheers!

oh wow! I will let you know if I do find it!!

my Apple Watch location updates everyday. I realized that when ever I turn my phone off and back on or when I come back home the location updates. But this only started happening after I installed the IOS 15 on my phone.

so it’s either something wrong with the software, or one of my neighbours in the building has it and has charged it and is refusing to call the number on the screen (the Watch is set to lost), and is probably hoping I would erase it from my Apple account so they can use it for themselves…..?

However I’m also doubt full of this scenario because the Find my app says it would send an “email” notification when the Watch is found but I’ve never received one.

I really don’t know what’s going on but hopefully I can find it someday lol.

This is happening to me right now! My watch has been missing for a week. I know it’s dead because it was dead when I last saw it.

today it updated that it was with me at a store. I have a feeling it’s some how tracking my phone at this point. Or my finding skills are completely off and it’s in my car even though I’ve looked 4 times now. Someone else told me the same thing. Their watch was lost but yet it kept tracking their body/phone and updating with the red timing.

Hello,

thank you for the response, however it did not answer my question.

4 months ago I lost my Apple Watch and set it to lost/locked mode. During that time the Watch was off and it’s location was unknown. However in the past couple of days, the location of the Watch appeared on the Find my app. First on Nov 23 and then again yesterday and it appears to be at my address.

if the device battery was dead from 4 months ago, how could it’s location appear on the find my app.

my suspicion is that someone who live nearby or in the same building as me has found it and recharged it which led to its location being updated on the find my app.

would my suspicion be correct, or is this a software glitch?
