Have you lost data in the Contacts App on MacBook Air?

I went in to my Contacts app on my 2017 MacBook Air to send out a Christmas letter. I went to my groups and I found a couple of things. 1. There were multiple copies of group lists. I had on group list but now there were 3 group lists with the same name. 2. My group list had 330 contacts on it a couple of months ago, now there were no contacts on the group list, or in any of the copies of the group that I did not create. Then I found that in my "All On my Mac" list, where all my data should be only to find that a lot of my data was gone. Not all of it, but lots of the date is missing.

Has anyone had similar problems?

Thanks

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

Greetings Contacts_app,

We understand that you’re encountering an issue where your group lists are showing multiples, though the groups don’t have any contacts in them. Additionally, you typically store your contacts ‘On My Mac’ as opposed to syncing them with an account, but are finding that data is not showing as well.

Do you use iCloud or any other account to sync data? If you use another device such as iPhone or iPad, do you see these groups or missing contacts appear there?

If not, do you make regular backups, such as with the Time Machine app, where we might be able to recover data that was stored locally?

Thank you.
