Smart Keyboard not working on split view

Now with iOS 15.2 update, back to normalcy — so 15.1 was directly related in my case. Split screen keystroke hindrance issue is gone, and this may be the case with the majority, after downloading.

I have the same issue. Once I put apps into split view, the iPad no longer detects keystrokes from my smart keyboard, even if I’ve touched the screen to select the app and have an active cursor input box selected. I have to turn off the iPad screen and then turn it back on and it will start registering keystrokes again.

the trackpad continues to operate without issue. It’s almost as if the iPad can’t determine which app has been selected and requires a screen power cycle to reset.

I’ve tried Apple’s magic keyboard and Logitech’s Combo Touch and both experience the same issue. This isn’t something I only experienced with the new iPad OS 15. this has been an issue with OS 14 too.

I have the same thing happening to me. I can make the split screen but cannot type with them, nor have the keys work on Magic Keyboard However, can add keyboard to the screen and make that work. This problem started a couple days ago. I had been using split view with Magic Keyboard for several months, with zero issues at all. I wonder if related to iOS 15.1, which was downloaded couple days ago, hence a bug? Prior to 15.1, I had been using iOS 15 with no split screen/view issues. In any case I have latest 15.9 iPad Pro M1 with Magic Keyboard. This is all so bizarre — split screen/view usage with smart/magic keyboard is a key usage point of iPad.

Wow. Such a simple workaround. Still not cool to have to do this - especially since both products are Apple’s and should work together. But at least I can multi task again. I had given up on it. Very disappointing that Apple can’t get this figured out and fixed. Also, good to know that the issue is not with Apple’s keyboard.

I have the exact same issue - in all of the split view modes. Any app. I have to exit out one of the apps to get the typing functionality back. But, other than the typing, the keyboard itself works just fine. This started with the update to the latest iPad OS.

This started with the update to the latest iPad OS for me. And I’m on a 12.9 Pro (not the latest one).
