"Width and height are different between first and this video stream"?

I shot and edited a 1080p50 video a couple of years ago. This morning a relative asked me for a copy so I launched the project into FCP X 10.6.1 after first updating it.

I then exported it using Computer>Faster Encode and all seemed well except at the end I received the error message below.

On attempting to open the exported file I got these windows and the video failed to open.

I have not changed anything in the project since I exported it originally 2 years ago so what is going on?

Incidentally it is just a simple family video with a single track, cross dissolves and a superimposed title.

If you change the action back to Just Save or Quicktime Player, does the problem persist?

I have never seen anything like this...

Does it work if you export in any other way, like export file, video and audio?

I have a suspect.

I just noticed this . . . . the Action has somehow changed itself from QuickTime Player to Avidemux which I installed a few days ago.

I have a feeling that Avidemux has messed up FCP X 10.6.1 in some way.

That's what I did. At first it had the same result but then I shutdown FCP X and once relaunched it seemed to clear the system so the new setting was recognised.

All is now back to normal but it appears that Avidemux has some strange side effects!
