Trading in MacBook Pro with AppleCare for a new MacBook Pro what happens to the AppleCare on the trade in?

What happens to AppleCare+ on a trade in of a MacBook Pro? I want to upgrade to a faster MacBook and have one with AppleCare+

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.6

You can get a partial refund for the applecare on the old one.

You will need to buy a new plan for the new Mac.
