Can I use a Lightning Digital AV Adapter to connect my iPhone cable to my iPad charger?

My new iPhone SE was provided without a power adapter and a cable that has the lightning connection on one end and a USB-C connection on the other. My new phone needs to be charged and I'm wondering if I can use a Lightning Digital AV Adapter which I have to connect my iPhone cable to my iPad charger before I have an opportunity to purchase a power adapter.
