How may I use my external DVD that has a USB cord for my iMAC24?

I purchased this adapter to connect USB-A to USB-C. It works with an iPad Pro, and my new MacBook Pro M1 Pro laptop for connecting older USB-A peripherals.

Sure, please just ensure you plug it in directly to the iMac and of course you will need a USB adapter, you can find them on Amazon for <$10.
