Macbook pro 2016 software update
I tried to update my macbook's software to the latest one but it says it's up to date. The current software is MacOS High Sierra.

A lot of changes have happened since High Sierra, you can always stair step one or two macOS—in an effort to get current.
verify you are using the Safari browser to download/initiate the macOS links.
