I have to screenshot some scenes from a movie that I've bought from appleTV for thesis research purposes. I've already contacted the legal team but not sure if they're going to reply. Have anyone ever done this? Or have you ever find another way?

Screen capture is prohibited for DRM-protected content, including movie that you bought from Apple TV. Screenshots do not work through QuickTime or Xcode, except for unprotected content (e.g. menus).
The Terms and Conditions for Apple Media Services state that you can only use the content for personal entertainment, and not share with others. Your reasons/justifications are not covered in the Terms and Conditions. Talk to your legal advisor.
