Reset MacBook

I am having this issue where I trying to reinstall OS X but it gives me this error saying a required download is missing. How do I fix this error?

Perhaps you'd have to start into macOS recovery and see about getting a newer installer download.

This page of newer instructions may work ok to use Recovery; it's a revised article I'd not used.

A basic path since your system seems to be stuck on some older version, and may be missing parts;

if you have a Time Machine backup you may be able to start from that, and use that to reinstall OS.

A damaged system could be at play. Assume you haven't even set up Time Machine, and try macOS

Recovery to find and use some system seen as adequate. Most, if not all instructions are in article.

The following older article approaches parts of this matter, differently. May be easier; or not!

Tells how to use Internet Recovery, should your Mac go that direction on restart.

I've somewhere else to be right now, & its -4°F out. Hopefully this is not mission impossible.

What may have helped 'first read-though' ~ would've been info about Mac's configuration.

Good luck & happy trails!🌤
