Hello randychoy94,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Upon review of your post, it seems that you want to know if you have an Apple-created charging cable. We can see why you’d want this taken care of, so let us help from here! While there is not a way for us to confirm 100% one way or another except by viewing the accessory in person, this article may help with identifying your accessory: Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories.
Please let us know if you have follow up questions, so we can continue assisting. Take care!
Might we ask where you obtained the fake one?
You're welcome.
Simple answer? If you bought it directly from an Apple Store online or in person there’s no doubt it’s real. If you bought it from an authorized Apple seller (like Best Buy) it’s also real. If you bought it from Amazon or some other online store all bets are off, especially if the price was significantly lower than Apple’s retail price. In that case it’s probably a fake Asian knockoff.
Actually, there are two of these at home. 1 was bought from the Apple Store and 1 was a fake. I have always them separated so that I wont be confused but 1 day they are interchanged/mixed. Right now, I dont know where is the original and the fake. Anyway for me to sort them?
Yep, bingo, marked as 20W but model number is for 18W. This is the fake one and you should dispose of it asap as it could be dangerous to the health of your Apple prodoucts.
See if this helps. About Apple USB power adapters - Apple Support My 20w USB-C adapter has the Apple number A2305 on it. Yours looks like it says A1720, which is supposed to be an 18w device.
Thank you so much
