Why can’t I share notes over iCloud

I am trying to share a note, I am signed into ICloud, the other person was able to share a note with me but when I share a note with them it says “private” How do I change this? I even tried to make them an editor. I added and removed different times. My phone is fully updated to the new IOS

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Is the note that you are attempting to share password protected? Did you lock it with a password? If YES, then that can be the reason that you cannot share it. You will have to remove the password protection (unlock). Below is how to do that:

Remove a lock

  1. Tap the locked note, then tap View Note.
  2. Enter your password, use Face ID, or use Touch ID.
  3. Tap the More button .
  4. Choose Remove.

When you remove a lock from a note, it's removed on all of the devices that you're signed in to with the same Apple ID.
