Phone call Sound

When I use my phone (on my iPhone 12 Pro Max), I can barely hear the person. Yet, my volume is turned to high and I have checked my settings for sound and everything is plenty loud EXCEPT for the phone. The volume is too low. How do I fix this OR is the a flaw with the phone and do I need to bring it in for repair

See the tips in this link, paying attention to tip #2 and try to clean the speaker. If nothing helps, then schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options --> If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support
