Logic Pro generating midi control messages when changing channel strips

Hey all,

I created an external instrument track and am sending midi out on my interfaces midi out port, channel 1, to a Novation Peak. Audio is coming back on inputs 1 and 2. If I create a midi section and play it, everything works fine.

However, if I ever change the channel strip away from the external instrument, a bunch of midi control messages are generated and sent to the synth, messing up its patch. Here's a video of the issue occurring:

I have no external midi reset messages set up (see pic below):

Does anyone have a guess as to what's happening? It's literally driving me mad.

Thanks!

Looking at your list, I'm guessing it's a control surface issue.

Upper left Logic Pro Menu Control Surfaces/ as a test select "Bypass All Control Surfaces"

Also possible, look at; Project Settings/MIDI/Chase

Update: If I change the output midi channel on the external instrument to channel 2, the reset control messages are still sent one channel 1. This gives me a work around (set the Peak to use channel 2 so it ignores the control messages), but I'd still like to figure this out as I find it utterly mind boggling that they're being sent in the first place...
