viruses

i got a page on my safari saying thag my device has been infected with 17 viruses and wants me to buy an app to resolve it. it said at the top “apple security” and i want to verify if it is actually apple before i go any further. i also have never visited an “adult website” which is mainly why i’m very confused.

It's a scam. A message warning of malware will only be legitimate if you manually started a scanner or uploaded a file to a website.
