Just purchased my first Apple product - an Ipad mini 6. I need help joining my network.

Why is my new Ipad mini 6 not connecting to my internet? All my other devices (android) work fine. However I cannot set up my new ipad because it says "unable to join network" when I try to connect. It says if need to check my router. My router does use WPA2 but the wifi is not providing an internet connection. This is very frustrating. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
