ICONS APPEARING ATOP MESSAGES TEXTS

A previous question was about the people icons that appeared above a user’s text messages. It was explained that they were “pins” that the user likely placed there by accident. The user was told that they could be “unpinned” by touching and holding them until a screen came up giving them the option to “unpin.”

My question is: HOW DO I PIN A CONTACT THAT I WANT TO REMAIN ATOP MY MESSAGES TEXTS? I tried touching and holding the icon next to the contact’s name; but that did not work. ☹️

You can do it in a couple of ways..

When looking at your message list, on the person's message thread you'd like to pin, swipe from left to right and you should see a yellow tab with a white pin appear on the left. If you pulled it over partially, just tap the yellow part. You can also pin it by simply swiping further over.
When looking at your message list, press the icon at the top with 3 dots in a circle. Select Edit Pins. Tap on the pin icon next to the thread(s) you'd like pinned.
