Using Airdrop with apps

What gets shared when you Airdrop an app? Does it make sense to use it to transfer apps from an older phone to an upgraded one?

Absolutely not! In fact, that is not possible. You cannot “AirDrop an app.”

Apps are obtained from the App Store on the device that is going to use the app.
