Partial grey screen

Hi all, part of my Macbook screen has suddenly gone grey, and flickers. Sometimes it goes, but most of the time it is on the screen (see attached image). Have tried restarting, resetting graphics chips and wiggling screen around to see if it is a faulty connection, but nothing works. Laptop seems to work fine, it's just a little annoying. Anyone know anything about this?

Screen shots come directly from the GPU—If you take a screens shot and the anomaly is present this would implicate the GPU.

If the anomaly is not present then this points to a fault with display assembly/projector cable.

Either way it appears to be hardware issue.

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
