Strange NetBIOS-name

Hi all,

When I checked out the network tab in system settings on my mac I found out that the NetBIOS-name was the name of the phone of a colleague of mine. I never connected with his phone. Does someone knows how this is possible?

Kind regards

Hey there Petric88,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. NetBIOS is enabled by default in macOS to improve compatibility with third-party products. To verify, does this person have access to your Mac? Is this a work or school related Mac? If so, you may want to reach out to your network admin and let them know. You can also find some good info here:

Take care.
