iPhone backup via iTunes

I have a iPhone running current IOS and have been a iTunes user for quite a while.

When I use iTunes to backup my iPhone, even though in settings it is configured to backup to iCloud, it seems to back up to my C Drive on my Windows computer.

How can I ensure the backup is actually making it to iCloud and reduce the disk usage on my C Drive?
