Gift card refund for cancellation of order

I recently bought a case off of the apple store on my phone. I payed with a $50 gift card and the rest was payed with my debit card. The order would not accept my card and I cancelled the order in hopes of reinitiating it. I was not billed but when I checked my apple store balance, there was no money. How do I get my $50 gift card back?
