My phone is locked in SOS

My phone is locked in SOS mode. Every time I turn it back on it messages my emergency contacts. I have tried to go to settings to turn it off, but the buttons appear to be greyed out. How do I go about shutting off? Any help would be appreciated. My contacts are getting irritated.
