How can you make the thumbnails on files go away

I’m using files to mark something that I do every month and for the first time there are thumbnails on the left that will not go away and I’m left handed. I keep hitting them with my hand. Lost all my work and had to start over. How do I make them GO AWAY

It’s not just in preview. It’s when you’re working in files. It was not like this before. There must have been an update that changed this and this is an awful idea. I use this monthly with markup and I’m not sure how I’m going to make this work now.

Hello AshleyMyers420,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're looking for options to assist with Files app on your iPad and would like to either close or relocate "Browse" in the sidebar. Is that right? If so, please take a look at article, View files and folders in Files on iPad. Under section: Rearrange the Browse sidebar, you should find a solution that works for you.

Best regards.
