Magic Keyboard F1-F12 keys not working as intended with 2016 MacBook Pro

I recently purchased a Magic Keyboard (no touch ID, no numpad) to work with my 2016 Macbook Pro with Touch Bar. The keyboard works just fine, but the top row of keys (F1-F12) don't seem to be working as intended. I can't adjust the sound, brightness, etc via these keys. Any advice on how to fix this?

Magic Keyboard space bar typing on it's own I had connected the magic keyboard. And the space bar started to continuously be activated without pressing it. When I opened the Macbook Air, to type from the in-built keyboard, the same issue happened on the Macbook Air as well. .

Function keys not working on Magic Keyboard I have a new Magic Keyboard paired to a MacBook Pro (13in 2020). The function keys worked fine, but since I charged the keyboard they now don't work. F11 (which should turn the volume down) now hides windows. None of the others do anything at all. When I go to Preferences > Keyboard and select "Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard" nothing happens - it just spins and spins. But I'm using the keyboard right now, so it is connected. Any suggestions? I've restarted my MacBook and turned the keyboard on and off. Thanks
