how do I add MagSafe wallet to find my devices
Chris
Thanks for your response.
The compatibility of the MagSafe wallet and the clear case seems to causing some confusion. Just to clarify that the MagSafe wallet does not work with the iPhone 12 Clear Case. Since I’m using an iPhone 13 with a compatible case that is not the source of the problem. Apple wallet product overview states - ‘Designed with both style and function in mind, the new iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe is the perfect way to keep your credit and debit cards close at hand. It now supports Find My, so you can be notified of your wallet’s last known location if it gets separated from your phone.
Crafted from specially tanned and finished French leather, the wallet features strong built-in magnets that allow it to effortlessly snap into place on the back of your iPhone. You can even stack it on top of a case with MagSafe to create a look that’s unique to you. The leather wallet supports up to three cards and is shielded so it’s safe for credit cards.’ Apple also state that the wallet now has ‘Find My support’.
This leads me to conclude that the issue is not related to device compatibility.
I looked at the iOS User Guide page ‘ Add iPhone Leather Wallet Later’. This advised that -
Add iPhone Leather Wallet later
If you decide not to add your iPhone Leather Wallet with Find My support when you first attach it to your iPhone, you can add it later from the Find My app.
Attach your iPhone Leather Wallet with Find My support to your iPhone.
In Find My, tap the Add button, choose Add MagSafe Accessory, then follow the onscreen instructions.
I’m running iOS 15.1.1 and cannot locate the Add Button or + on the Find My screen.
So if anybody has been able to locate add the add button please point me in the right direction.
Thanks
These are the instructions for adding the Wallet to your device. About the iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe - Apple Support You have to attach it to your device and it should come up automatically. The question I posed when you said you could not add it was if you were sure that you have the new style Wallet, since the two versions look exactly the same, but you never answered that. I had to make sure of that when I purchased my new one with my iPhone 13 Pro. Once you attach it and pair it, then it should work. You shouldn't have to use a + to add it. There are troubleshooting steps at the bottom of the support document.
Hi Thomas-the-Rhymer,
Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with using your iPhone Leather Wallet with Find My.
It does appear you have visited the correct article. What happens when you try?
Which iPhone do you have? Please note:
"You can use the wallet with the iPhone 12 Clear Case, but Find My isn't supported. "
Have a fantastic day!
I have an iPhone 13, running the latest version of iOS. The phone has a compatible case manufactured by Apple. The wallet is also an Apple product.
reading the Apple guidance, the wallet should appear as a device listed in ‘Find My’. This isn’t happening and therefore there is no indication that the wallet is being tracked.
While the leather wallet that supports Find My looks the same as the other leather wallet, they are different. You need to make sure that you have the correct leather wallet that supports Find My. Also, Lawrence was referring to the fact that the wallet does not work with Find My if you are using the clear MagSafe case by Apple.
You have to have the newest version of the wallet and an iPhone 12 or 13
