iTunes won't stay closed

Usual suspects are iTunes-related widgets and third-party apps that are trying to communicate with iTunes. Disable any such items -- including the iTunes Dashboard widget -- and see if the behavior stops.

I am having the same issue. It just started with this version of itunes. I disabled everything itunes associated, wiped my plists, repaired disk permissions, restarted the computer and still... any other suggestions?

I had the same problem. I went through Activity Monitor and closed everything possible. I had Dashboard disabled. Turned off Genius. No Genre anything. Tried the plist trick, repaired permissions. None of that worked.

It was an "import to itunes" rule I had set up in Hazel. One mp3 file was weird and couldn't be imported into itunes so it sat there while Hazel tried, day after day. My rule says to import and then delete, so it never got deleted. Once I manually deleted it and closed itunes, everything was back to normal. Hope this can help someone.

So if I had a similar problem based on some applescript experimenting my friend did on my computer, how would I go about finding and stopping it?
