iTunes won't stay closed

I have iTunes 9.2.1. Today I noticed that when I close iTunes, it immediately reopens and hides itself. It also autostarts shortly after start up, though it isn't in my startup items. Any idea what is causing this and how to stop it?

I had the same problem. I went through Activity Monitor and closed everything possible. I had Dashboard disabled. Turned off Genius. No Genre anything. Tried the plist trick, repaired permissions. None of that worked.

It was an "import to itunes" rule I had set up in Hazel. One mp3 file was weird and couldn't be imported into itunes so it sat there while Hazel tried, day after day. My rule says to import and then delete, so it never got deleted. Once I manually deleted it and closed itunes, everything was back to normal. Hope this can help someone.
