Music App Issue in Os Monterey

I’m going try to explain this best way possible

huge issue with Apple Music App after upgrading to Os Monterey

the music app is constantly searching for Album artwork unprompted and adding multiple tracks of the same song. I have about 12-15 tracks of the same song added to an album and that’s for every song on an album

after a few mins of searching for artwork while I’m trying to delete all the extra Tracks the app will freeze and I have to force close it

anyone else experiencing this ?

know if it’s a bug in the software or how to fix what’s going on ?

I already submitted a bug report to apple but I’ve never had much luck of getting a reply

I've been experiencing weird issues, as well. This may be a very specific case, but I had some music added via Apple Music, and then I acquired the CD, so I import the files, and my intention is to delete the Apple Music files and Match the CD files, and this goes as expected initially, but after some time it seems to revert back: the Apple Music files are "undeleted" and my imported files are nowhere to be found. Also, playlist changes seem to be reverted. In one case involving imported music as per above, I replaced the Apple Music tracks in a playlist with my imported tracks, and in this case, the imported tracks have remained but the playlist reverted back to the way it was. Also, play counts don't seem to be updating from playing music on my phone. I know this usually takes a day or so to be reflected on the Mac (not that I understood why that would be the case) but it's been several days now and I'm not seeing play counts updated from the phone.

Weird, weird stuff. These are all things that I do regularly, and never had these issues, it's only happened since I upgraded to Monterey last weekend. Sometimes a restart helps.

I’m not sure if the sorting problems you mention are the same as mine, but for me sometimes I can’t click on a column header to sort, the column kind of flashes like it’s entering drag and drop mode, which I also can’t do. But I’ve found you can sort through the view menu. Usually after doing that, normal column header functionality seems to work.

I’m with you, too, in that I use Music on my older MBP with Catalina, and it works fine. I’ve been able to update tags and edit playlists there, and then it syncs to the cloud and back to my Monterrey Mac. It’s clearly a problem with Monterrey Music, and not the cloud service.

Oh, forgot to mention, I can't move columns around in songs view, and sometimes I clicking on a column heading to sort doesn't work.

Just got into a certain playlist, and songs that I added a week ago, and had trouble tagging, and replacing the Apple Music versions, are again reverted to original tags and the deleted Apple Music versions are still in my library, in the playlist... I've made this change probably 3 times already, this is really aggravating.

As a software developer, I can't imagine how stuff like this gets past QA.

As a music teacher, I rely on iTunes (now Music and TV) to share my music tracks (mp3) and videos (mp4) for students during lessons or forward them via email for online work. Since converting to OS Monterey on my iMac, problems have arisen with trying to find specific items under Name, Artist, Composer, Comments and Genre.

In the past I was able to select the column, type in the first few letters of the song/artist/composer etc and iTunes would immediately search and display the results. Under Monterey this has become very haphazard with the song/artist/composer columns and non-existent with the Comments or Genre columns. I also can't export my songs directly to student emails or thumb drives and now have to drop them onto the desktop before loading them.

This is effecting my productivity and is frustrating for everyone. I have restarted the computer on several occasions and quit and reloaded Music without any improvements. Fortunately I still have iTunes on my MacBook Pro with OS Mojave to do my search functions.

Would appreciate any help or solutions.
