[SOLVED] Cannot mount sparsebundle disk image from network drive - resource temporarily unavailable

I have run into this issue a few times where a sparsebundle disc image cannot be opened from a network drive on my Synology NAS with the error " resource temporarily unavailable" when double clicking on the file to open it from the drive.

To make sure no other processes were locking the file, I checked to make sure TimeMachine wasn't set up on the network drive the image is on. I also added the network drive to the privacy pane of Spotlight in System Preferences. Finally, I made sure in my Synology Disk Station settings under File Services -> AFP -> Advanced that Release Resources Immediately After Disconnect was checked.

None of that worked.

Finally, I was able to mount the disk image using the Disk Utility app's File-> Open Disk Image command which prompted me for my password for the image, which I had encrypted.

Hopefully this will help others who run into the same issue.
