iphone back up to Mac
I clicked on Finder, looked for Iphone in the list but it is not there, not sure what to do now to back up my iphone to my mac

Make sure you read Apple's instructions before proceeding. See: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
It's easier to backup to iCloud. It happens automatically each time you recharge your phone.
