Based on your first message, we could only guess as to the type of messages that have been affected. Thanks for clearing up that emails are affected, and not text messages. This does sound like unexpected behavior for the Mail app.

One thing to check would be if this is only occurring with a specific email address as you mentioned only some of your emails are affected. If you only have one email account setup, like iCloud for example, then that narrows it down to that specific account having the issue.

If the issue remains, we recommend contacting your email provider to have them check if anything on their end could be causing this. It also wouldn't hurt to try sending an email from your email provider's website to test what occurs.
