That depends on how the new Flash Drive is formatted when purchased. It will also depend on how one what's to use the Flash Drive.
If for use Only on Apple Computer - one can use the native format HFS Journaled with GUID Partition Map.
If for use on Both Windows and Apple Computer - would suggest formatted as exFat with Master Boot Record Partition Map.
