My iPhone 13 Pro Max will not update the settings to my AirPods. Or any AirPods devices. I’ve tried two separate AirPods on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
it will not change to “automatically”, it always reverts back to “ when last connected to this iPhone”.
support had me erase all settings. That didn’t fix it. The issue is that the setting attached in photos will NOT UPDATE.

For anyone having this issue. Reset your iPhone and do not restore from back up. Fixed it.
So it is automatically changing back when you change it to Automatically? You should be connected to the AirPods at this time to be able to see that setting, correct? Do you have other headphone devices paired with the iPhone? I'm not sure if Restrictions would change that, but did you look in Settings>Screen Time>Content & Privacy Restrictions to see if there are any turned on there?
Correct. The AirPods (I have two sets that I’ve troubleshooted with), are connected to my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
the audio route is not updating to “automatically”, it remains on the “When last connected to this iPhone” setting.
