Receiving messenger verification code text? I have received two messenger verification code texts over the past two days. My understanding is that means someone is trying to log into my Apple ID? Is there anyway to find out who that is where they are logging in from or what device they are using?
Does this mean that someone has actually successfully used my correct Apple ID password in order to trigger these verification texts?

I’d like to know if I can tell or you can tell from the verification code where the request originated, geographical location and perhaps phone as well as app.

If you are receiving a messenger verification starting with the word G, this sounds like it could be coming from Google. That is the format that is used for a Google sign in. We would recommend reaching out to Google support for further assistance.

When you get a request for access to your Apple ID, you will see a location on the screen. While this may not show the exact location, it will show that vicinity that the request is coming from. There's not a way to tell the exact geographical location using your app. However, the article that was provided before will help you secure your account. I am not getting a request to access my Apple ID. I am getting a text message Messenger verification code that starts with G- Followed by six numbers. At the times I get this, which is maybe twice a day, I am not doing anything to trigger it… In other words I am not on a website and seeking permission to access anything at the time. The phone is generally down and in active when I receive leaves messenger text Codes. So that’s why I’m trying to see whether there’s any way to identify where these triggering inquiries are coming from, either where the phone is or the geography etc.

That sounds exactly like what I get for my Google 2FA account codes. In those legitimate texts tapping on the number offers nothing more than the one option to copy it so I can paste it into the login window of the Google account login page.
But those messages are simply: “G-123456 is your Google verification code.” This is when I login to my gmail or Google voice accounts after a long period since last login.
That sounds like a Google account code, not an Apple code (Google prefixes their 2FA with G-). AppleID 2FA codes are normally received as iCloud push notifications, not texts. They should look like the one on the iPhone image in this support document -> Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support
The code starting with G Dash and then the six numbers is underlined. I have not touched on it.

The only "Messenger" I know of is Facebook's Messenger. Apple has no product by that name.

Since it is a text message, it is entirely possible it is just a dime-a-day phishing scam. Is there a URL link in the message (don’t click it if there is)?
