Gmail sync between Apple Watch and Mail in OSX

Hello,

When I swipe left on my Apple Watch and delete (button shows the "Archive" symbol) an email, it disappears from my apple watch inbox (good!) but when I open Mail on my Macbook, the email is in my inbox, showing as "read". I would like this email to NOT show in my inbox, since it was archived on my Apple Watch.

Is there a setting I need to change in order to accomplish the above?
