I have two user names names and passwords to open the macbook. One is ADMIN and one is STANDARD. The ADMIN is now grayed out in the user groups drop down. I cannot choose it there. And the Password does not work anymore on sign in page and I need it to perform certain functions (I.e updates). SO, how to retrieve admin password macbook air 2020. madtusk2

Reset Computer Password . This will change Only the Admin Account password.

1 - Restart computer and immediately hold Command + r keys
2 - Top Tool Bar >> Utilities >> Terminal
3 - Type resetpassword as one word and no spaces
4 - Press Return key
5 - Follow the prompts and remember the New Password

1 - Choose Apple menu > > Shut Down.
2 - Press and hold the power button on your Mac until you see “Loading startup options.”
3 - Click Options, then click Continue.
4 - Top Tool Bar >> Utilities >> Terminal

6 - Press Return key
7 - Follow the prompts and remember the New Password
