iCloud won't store my Desktop and Documents folder

When I try to turn it on, it claims I have too many files or too many nested folders to store desktop and documents in iCloud. Not very helpful.

Is there really no other way to backup a MacBook to iCloud? (I have 2TB of storage - more than enough to hold the files I need)

Lost files while trying to back up documents into iCloud Last night I tried to back up all my files from my Mac as I want to buy a new Mac. It was taking hours and hours so I tried to stop iCloud from backing up. I am trying to back up my files to Icloud, but i cannot find the Desktop and documents folder option under Icloud options. Is there a step i am missing? Hello, I have folders on my mac's desktop that I want to back up to my Icloud account. I followed the instructions of clicking on the apple-systems preference- Icloud drive- options- select Desktop and documents folders. The problem is that Desktop and document folders is not showing as an option. Is there a way for me to get that option to back my files?

iCloud is making duplicate Desktop and Documents folder So, I had "Store in iCloud" turned on under Storage Management earlier, but not sure how that got turned off and now that my mac is struggling for storage I was looking around in the settings and realised it got turned off somehow. So I turned it back on, but now iCloud has created a duplicate copy of the Desktop and Documents folders. ‍ I would really like everything to be under the same folder. I have a hunch that even if I copy everything over from the new duplicate folders to the old ones, macOS will just create another copy when iCloud backup initiates. Can anyone confirm, or possibly provide a better solution? System is taking over 128GB of space out of my 250GB SSD. Turning "Store in iCloud" feature is not really clearing any space for me. Not sure if this is actually working. Hardly got 40GB left.

You may be able too fix the sync issue by:

Signing out/in to icloud
Temporarily moving all of your desktop and documents files to your downloads folder, then moving smaller groups back into place to sync.

And, be sure to keep a good Time Machine backup of your files
