Disk Utility

Trying to make a new image of SDHC with Disk Utility.

I'm inserting card – Mac sees it and I can see the video files

Click 'New Image' then 'Image from ...'

decide where to save DMG

It starts:

'creating disk image from 'file name' (disk3s1)

Unmounting "file name"

operation failed with status 1: Operation not permitted

Operation failed...

I thought that I may not have certain permissions but just can't work out why this is happening.

I have updated OS to Big Sur 11.6.1 since successful DMGs with Sierra 10.12.

Ideas, please,

Keith

Thanks to both Keith and ku4hx for the very swift replies.

The SDHC cards were formatted in camera and have just added more video to an existing card, which was previously successfully copied via Disk Utility as a DMG. These particular cards are 16GB and they are nowhere near full.

What I've now done is made duplicate on the desktop that seems to be fine.

I was just used to using Disk Utility over the years and now can't for some unfathomable reason.

Anyway, will now go this method, which I hope affords the same result.

Cheers,

Keith
