Anyway to pause an Apple software update download & continue later?

My satellite internet service limits large downloads to inconvenient times. If a download takes 2 hours, I have to start it at 4 AM. Is there anyway (perhaps a third party solution) to PAUSE an Apple Software Update and continue it later. Various download managers don't seem to work unless I can provide a URL and this does not seem to be the case with Apple Software Updates.

@baltwo That is not an answer to the question, that's a workaround. I agree with @hauskurz and a number of others I have found on the internet: There should be a way to pause updates. There is no reason that if I download 800+ mb of updates for 4 different applications, and I have to disconnect from the internet for any reason before the download is complete, that what has been downloaded should be lost. They have to be stored somewhere in temporary files or something that can and should be recovered.

There really needs to be a pause function or at least an automatic recovery of those incomplete downloaded updates. Come on, Apple, get on this.

And please, no more "answers" like @baltwo - Don't tell me when to do my updates - thats not the problem, the problem is loss of downloaded data for no reason.

If you don't like the answers, then post your own solution. As CMCSK noted, this is the wrong place for your *get with it Apple* rant. You want something fixed or added, then since you know so much, report it to Apple the correct way.

To report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

BTW, I'm not @baltwo. I'm baltwo, since I don't do tweets or text messages.
