Activation lock on iPad 2nd gen

I was given an old iPad by a friend but no longer talk to them. It was working and then somehow it got locked by a activation lock. Is it possible to get the iPad unlocked if I no longer have contact with her?

Activation Locked iPad 4th Gen (Wi-Fi Only) (a1458) can't be unlocked Years ago a friend of mine gave me her iPad 4th Gen (Wi-Fi Only) (a1458) as it was activation locked and used to belong to her late husband. It's been stuck in Activation Lock mode all this time. We don't know her late husband's Apple ID and password and clearly, we can't ask him for it. We also can't produce his receipt for the iPad as proof that he owned it (Apple often require a receipt to unlock a device). Ss there any way to turn off Activation Lock? I suspect the iPad is now only good to be a door stop. 😢 I know it's really old (2014) but it would be nice to at least activate it for use with the Web, note taking, etc. Ideas?

Only if the Activation Lock is with your Apple ID. If it is with the other person's Apple ID, they are the only one that can unlock it.
