Today's MacBooks if used with the newer "Optimized Battery Charging" option under the newer operating systems (at least Big Sur and Monterey) feature will learn from your usage, charging the battery up to 80% and hold it there. It will then charge it to 100% when the routine anticipates you will need it charged to 100%. You can also choose to manually charge to 100% when you wish. Just don't let the battery run down to nothing and leave it in that state. Otherwise use it as needed.
