Thank you for your answer.
The image is selected. Ive tried to follow the steps but unfortunately, i cannot press the Move in Text button. The button is a different shade of colour than normal, indicating that i cannot change it for this particular item. The reason it wont let me select the Move in Text button is unclear to me.

Hi Barry,
the document body checkbox is checked. so it is a word processing document. but for some images the move with text button is still greyed when selecting the image.
Maybe some more background can help? the image is made up from several shapes and arrows, grouped together to make a flowchart. Does that have any effect on the image?
Might have an effect on the grouped object if the 'members' of the group do not all have the same setting.
Try making a copy of the grouped object, Pasting it onto a separate page, and attempting to change the placement type there.
If Move with Text is greyed for the copy as well, UnGroup the image and select the individual images to see their placement settings. Set each to Move with text, then reconstruct the grouped object.
(Untested, so no guarantees.)
Regards,
Barry
Hey there aniek292,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Is the object selected? Make sure it is and follow the steps here to ensure you’re doing this properly:
Place objects with text in Pages on Mac
Take care.
thanks for your answer. How can I see if im in a word processing or page layout document?
it does let me change the setting for other images.
Apologies! I neglected to include that information.
Click on the Document button at the right end of the Toolbar to open the Document Inspector.
Look for the Document Body line and the checkbox to the left of that text.
If the box is checked, yours is a Word Processing document.
If it is unchecked (like the one in the image above), yours is a Page Layout document.
You can change from one type to the other by clicking the checkbox BUT changing from word processing to page layout will bring up this warning:
Another way to determine which type of document you have open is to open the Insert menu and read the first item:
In a word processing document the first item will be Section
In a page layout document, the first item will be Page
Regards,
Barry
Did you place the image in a Pages word processing document
or in a Pages page layout document?
Word processing documents have a Document Body, which contains the main body of text in the doc. Images set to Move with text are anchored to a specific location in the text contained in the Document Body.
Page Layout documents do not have a Document Body. Without a Document Body and no main body of text, there is no 'specific location in the text contained in the Document Body,' and the Move with Text setting in greyed because that placement cannot be carried out.

Barry
