The ability to connect an iPhone with a vehicle is done in Bluetooth. That is a Bluetooth connection and the ability to sync content to the car is dependent on the vehicle and the phone. I'm not sure what other type of device you refer to, but seems you are confusing sync with Bluetooth pairing.
