Apple iPad Pro external keyboard issues

The Apple iPad Pro keyboard was fabulous for the first year that I used it, but there are so many issues with it now, I may stop using it. I first had the problem with Facebook comments freezing up and was able to get help in changing the keyboard settings on the iPad to make it work. Apparently, Apple made a change and did not tell anyone.

Now I have having a huge issue with Twitter. I try sending a tweet and the keyboard does not place the characters on the screen. It appears that the only fix is to launch the on-screen keyboard and type what you need.

These two issues are very frustrating and I am nearing the time when the keyboard will have to go. Apple used to be better than this.

If you hardware keyboard works fine every place except the twitter app, it is hard to imagine how the problem could be caused by anything other than the app or iOS settings. We just saw this for 6 weeks with Facebook. In that case the screen keyboard and the web page were fine, but not any hardware keyboard, Apple or otherwise, inputting to the app. You could modify iOS accessibility settings to achieve a complex workaround just for that one app. Facebook finally issued an update December 10 to fix their app and make those workarounds unnecessary, Thousands of people experienced that problem and are now updating their app.

Have you seen others with your Twitter issue? Have you asked Twitter support?

Do you have anything at all turned on in your Accessibility settings? If so, try making sure it is all turned OFF.

I have not seen any other comments about Twitter and the iPad Magic keyboard and it seems that Apple should be on top of issues with common and popular apps using the keyboard. If it were another brand, I might expect issue, but not with an expensive Apple product. I have not spent a ton of time trying to figure this out, but it is very frustrating because I don’t understand the need to the constant on-screen availability of the keyboard. Seems like toggling that off would eliminate the issue, but I am just a dumb user.

Tom:

I don't know how it could be anything else but a keyboard or keyboard setting issue. If Twitter works fine using the on-screen keyboard, I doubt that the App could be corrupted. The fact that it only gives me trouble when using the keyboard seems to prove that out. It may well be that I have a settings issue, but have not been able to find it. Thanks
