FaceTime audio cut out

Whenever I am on FaceTime with my friend. They will be talking and if the microphone on my phone picks up any noise it will cut out the audio of them speaking. Is there any way to fix this?

iPhone 13, iOS 15

Hello kol10,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having issues with audio during FaceTime calls. We understand the importance of being able to communicate during your calls, and we'd like to help.

Are you experiencing this behavior with a specific contact or multiple? Also, does it happen while being connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data? Have you tried to test while being connected to another network?

To get started, let's see if the issue persists when using headphones rather than your iPhone's built-in mic/speakers.

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

I have this issue too when Face Timing my brother when we’re using speaker, not earbuds. Doesn’t matter what device we use.

We think it’s to stop audio echoing from the microphone picking up incoming audio from the call.

I’ve seen someone say that it might be because one of the callers has their phone at max volume, but I’ve also seen someone say that it’s a setting.

Personally I haven’t found a fix for this issue yet. It’s really annoying and I really hope this will be resolved somehow!
