Note that without the screen lock passcode, you cannot just gain access to it with all its data intact. You will have to restore it, which erases it. After that you could restore again but using your data from your most recent icloud or itunes backup file.
The system is designed such that no one can gain access to a device with intact data without knowing the screen lock passcode. It must be erased in order to reset the screen lock passcode if it is not known/forgotton.
