Pretty simple to do, please follow the simple steps in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant. If your old Mac does not have a Time Machine backup then please create one! It will only require an external HD, many experienced users use the OWC Mercury Elite Pro. If you are not familiar with Time Machine please read what Apple says in Back up your Mac with Time Machine.

Note, as your old Mac is EXTREMELY old any third party applications that are 32 bit apps will not run on the new computer. This is only important if you want to migrate third party apps to your new Mac. If you do want to migrate them the first thing to do is inventory your third party apps and determine which are 32 bit, you can do this by using Roaring Apps (Google it!) and then update or replace any 32 bit apps you want migrated.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

You can simply follow these steps and restore from your Time Machine backup: Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant - Apple Community.

If you do not have a Time Machine backup drive, I recommend using either a SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE - Western Digital or an OWC Mercury Elite Pro - OWC (since the G-DRIVE may be out-of-stock) as your backup drive. You can then follow the Apple Support steps to setup your Time Machine backup: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support.

Cheers,

Jack
