Colour and display issues with MacBook external display (Samsung LU28R55)

Hello. I have just purchased a Samsung LU28R55 monitor to use as an external display for my MacBook Pro (M1 Pro), however I'm having issues with the display. Firstly, the monitor is advertised as 4K at 60hz, however when I select 3840x2160 the text is way too small, and the best setting I've found size-wise is actually 2560x1440, however the text isn't that clear. On top of this, it's running at 30hz, how can I get the 60hz it's supposed to support? I'm using a HDMI with a USB-C adapter on...

Secondly, the colour on the Samsung monitor is terrible, very dull and yellowy compared to the MacBook. I've played around with the monitors settings and tried all the colour profiles but I can't seem to get it anywhere near the vivid colours of the MacBook..

Can anyone help me with either/both of these problems please? I'm not great with this stuff...

Thanks!

The color problem may have something to do with the color settings on your MacBook. Screen Mirroring from a device never really has good color so there also may be no way for you to fix it.

Update: I've played around with more settings (not really sure what I'm doing) and a Refresh Rate box has now appeared in the display settings, which wasn't there before, so I've now managed to switch it to 60hz. However I don't believe it is 60hz, as it's very laggy when minimising apps. Also, I've done a refresh rate test online and it's saying 30hz.

When I go to About This Mac > System Report, it's saying the resolution is 5K! (even though it's not a 5K monitor), and the 'UI Looks like' (whatever that is) says 60hz...

I'm so confused, someone please help! Will a change of cable fix this?

P.S I've just done away with the USB-C adapter and gone HDMI to HDMI and it's not made any difference.
